Community Service Conundrum

Up-to-date information about possible community service & volunteer opportunities can be found in current newspapers & magazines which are indexed on databases. Try the following databases using the keywords: community service, volunteerism, activism.

Curriculum Consultant

What course do you want to introduce? it is probably best to start by finding out if other schools teach that subject. Look in magazines and newspapers databases. You might find educational journals helpful. Search using you topic as a keyword and adding the words "teaching" or "studies" to the search. 

Field Trip Fiasco

How do you research field trip options? Think about what you would like to do and how it could relate to subject area. Do you want an inside activity or outside? Up-to-date information on educational field trips can be found in local and regional newspaper and educational publications.  Try these databases with keywords: educational field trips, cultural field trips, learning outside the classroom. You may want to limit your search to NJ or NY. Once you identify a few possibilities, check out their websites. 

Professor Wannabe

Specific databases provide information about authors & their works. Newspapers & journals provide reviews and criticism. Looks in these literary databases for professional criticism of your author and title.  We also have a large collection of literary criticism books. Keywords: Author's name, title of your selected work; for newspapers and journals add the word "review" or "criticism"

College Catastrophe

College websites have extensive information about their institutions but you can also find lots of information in newspapers and magazines. Naviance is available to all PH students. Try keywords: colleges & universities, limit by state

High Quality Websites

Most reputable organizations have high quality websites that are filled with valuable information. Look for the extensions .org, .gov, .edu.
