This guide will help users understand the cybercrime called phishing.

What is Phishing?

According to OnGuard Online, phishing is when criminals impersonate a business to trick you into giving out your personal information online. Email is the most prevalent means of "phishing" for information. Often the email looks almost exactly like one that you would expect to get from a bank or financial institution.  


In groups, use the selected resources to gather information. 

Create a poster that contains the following information:

  • Definition of phishing
  • 3 ways to identify phishing
  • 3 consequences of getting caught in a phishing scam
  • 3 ways to protect yourself from becoming a victim of a phishing scam

Be prepared to share your information with the class.
